Chapter 30

Birthdays are always a special occasion, but when it’s a milestone birthday you want everything to be as memorable as possible.  Earlier this month I celebrated my 30th birthday and of course I had to make sure all the details for my 30th birthday look from start to finish were as POLISHED as possible.  Entering a new decade you want to look good and feel good, but I also wanted to be comfortable the entire day because I new I was going to be constantly on the go, but we’ll get into my look in a little bit.  First things first let’s dive into my manicure.

I knew I wanted some sparkle but nothing too crazy.  I also wanted something that I wasn’t going to be tired of a day or two after my birthday; you know so much sparkle it’s obnoxious at 9:00 in the morning.  So I came across an image on Instagram and instantly knew it would be the perfect manicure to start 30.  Simple, yet classic with a touch of flair.

The colors I chose were a few of my favorites.  OPI’s ‘Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around’ and Essie’s ‘Penny Talk’ and ‘A Cut Above’.  A little negative space action and some glitter at the tip and I was all set.  You can never go wrong with rose gold or blush tones.  Plus pink is my favorite color so that was also a no brainer there on what color palette I should go with.  I used nail tape to help me get the perfect lines.  Started with ‘Don’t Bossa Nova Me Around’, let it dry for a few minutes, and then finished with ‘Penny Talk’ on top.  Once that dried I used a makeup triangle to apply the glitter to make sure I got just enough coverage to grace the tip of my nail.

For my outfit I went with a low cut, long sleeved, short dress.  I wanted to be extremely comfortable at the party that I threw.  I needed a no fuss moment and the dress was perfect.  I was so comfortable and everything stayed put lol.  My shoes however were my favorite part of the night.  My darling Jimmy Choo’s.  I could NOT wait to wear them.  They were so comfortable and just a work of art on my feet.  The minute I saw them I knew I had to have them.  Between the ostrich feather tassels and the Hotfix crystals, the shoes screamed “Melissa you NEED me”.  The shoes did not disappoint and were quite the hit with a lot of my guests.

I’ve been excited for 30 for a couple years now.  I’m so curious and excited to see what this new decade brings.  New memories, new journeys, new goals.  I definitely brought in 30 surrounded by family and loved ones.  I’m so grateful to be able to greet this new decade with a positive outlook.  Cheers to chapter 30 and everything it will manifest!
