Side Triangles: via Paintbox

If you’ve been reading my blog then you’re aware that I’m a big fan of Paintbox nail studio in NYC (even though I’ve never been there).  Their thoughtfully curated nail designs are too good.  They’re so simple but so cool that every season when they put out a new set I look at my phone like,  “why didn’t I think of this?”.  Anyway, this look that I recreated was either from their Spring/Summer 2017 collection or their Fall/Winter 2017 collection.  I liked this design because it was simply unique.  The color combos are electrifying.  However, I was traveling for my job last week and needed to keep the colors not too electrifying.  Had to keep some level of professionalism.

The colors I decided to choose where OPI’s ‘Turn On the Northern Lights‘ and ‘You’re Such A Budapest’.  I felt ‘Turn On the Northern Lights’ had just enough spice, and ‘You’re Such A Budapest’ was sweet enough to tone it down.

Once you have your two colors picked out all you’ll need to create the manicure are your design strips.

Step 1: Paint your nails your primary color, and let them dry COMPLETELY.  The design strips I have (I found them on Amazon) happen to be really sticky, so if I don’t let my nails dry all the way it peels off my primary color when I’m done completing the design.

Step 2: Place your pointed triangle tip strips at a side angle on all nails, or the nails of your choice.  I chose two per hand (tried to keep it professional remember ;-] )

Step 3: Use your secondary color and paint over the nail and the nail tape to get the triangular design.  Wait a few minutes then peel off the nail tape SLOWLY.  Sometimes pulling the tape off in the shape of the design will help accomplish a cleaner process.

Step 4: Paint your top coat, clean your edges with nail polish remover, and you’re all done!

This manicure is really easy to recreate yourself, but if you’re in NYC definitely order up this manicure.  I can’t wait to do it again with more in your face colors.

Melly
