Think Pink!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  This month is so important as it brings awareness not only to breast cancer, but it helps women take the necessary steps on making sure we can catch this disease in its early stages.  As women it’s important to educate ourselves on our bodies in order to properly take care of them.  We cannot neglect our breast or our other lady parts.  We carry the most vital body parts which aid in the process of procreation and nurture new life once it’s here.  Us as women have to do our part, whether big or small, to raise awareness on this disease.

BC StatAside from regular checkups with our doctors, it is recommended by the National Breast Cancer Foundation to give ourselves a breast self-exam once a month.  “Look for any changes in breast tissue, such as changes in size, feeling a palpable lump, dimpling or puckering of the breast, inversion of the nipple, redness or scaliness of the breast skin, redness or scaliness of the nipple/areola area, or discharge of secretions from the nipple.”  If anything is discovered from this self-exam, follow-up with your doctor as soon as possible.  We as women should get physical exams every year that include a breast exam and a pelvic exam (cervical cancer is something to check for too).

Pink is the chosen color for breast cancer awareness.  So in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and those that want to represent for the cause, I’m listing my favorite shades of pink that I feel will show great support and love for our melons!
