I love men and I love children, so when I came across this campaign last year that calls on men to bring awareness to bettering the lives of children being victimized by violence I instantly became a supporter.  It also doesn’t hurt that raising awareness is through nail polish!  I’ve been waiting for October 2017 so I can begin to spread awareness about this inspiring cause as well as fundraise.  Children are our future, and it’s our responsibility as a society to protect them from harm. 

Polished Man is a campaign dedicated to ending violence against children.  1 in 5 children fall victim to physical or sexual violence before they turn 18, and because 90% of these acts are committed by men, Polished Man is asking men to lead the way to start a conversation that challenges the culture within their communities.  To bring awareness, one nail is painted Polished Man Blue, or any color for that matter, to represent the one child that dies every 5 minutes as a result of violence.

Throughout the month of October is when Polished Man chooses to raise awareness one “Man-i-cure” at a time.  The money raised is channelled into trauma recovery and trauma prevention programs for children who have suffered or are at risk of suffering violence globally.  Awareness is really important, but it’s the fundraising that will have a real impact on the lives of the children affected or at risk.

Us women can get involved with the cause too!  Posting on social media with the hashtag #IPreferAPolishedMan gets the conversation started.  We can get the men in our lives involved by painting a nail for them and painting a feature nail for ourselves.  The important thing Polished Man wants us to remember is painting a fingernail leads to a conversation that leads to a donation that can allow for prevention and protection.
